“Sod the wine, I want to suck on the writing. This man White is an instinctive writer, bloody rare to find one who actually pulls it off, as in still gets a meaning across with concision. Sharp arbitrage of speed and risk, closest thing I can think of to Cicero’s ‘motus continuum animi.’

Probably takes a drink or two to connect like that: he literally paints his senses on the page.”

IRINA SANTIAGO MARRIES DUDLEY BROWN

There was a perfect McLaren Vale wedding this evening, when Irina Santiago, brilliant vine scientist, got up and married Dudley Brown, proprietor and winemaker of Inkwell Wines, chairman of DJ's Growers, and author of the must-read The Wine Rules blog, at their home in the vineyard on California Road ... the bride was delivered on a forklift, it being vintage and all ... she'll give Dudley what for ... we watched the sun sink into the Gulf  St Vincent, patron of vintners and vinegar makers, while we ate and drank and bullshitted and danced to Silverhair (!) ... it was a top McLaren Vale family show ... many beautiful wines were sunk ... and everyone went home neat and tidy ... photos by Philip White
