“Sod the wine, I want to suck on the writing. This man White is an instinctive writer, bloody rare to find one who actually pulls it off, as in still gets a meaning across with concision. Sharp arbitrage of speed and risk, closest thing I can think of to Cicero’s ‘motus continuum animi.’

Probably takes a drink or two to connect like that: he literally paints his senses on the page.”

TWELFTREE/McGRATH FUNERAL ADVICE

The memorial service for Howard John Twelftree (aka John McGrath) beloved Adelaide writer and gourmand, will be held at the Heysen Chapel, Centennial Park at 11:30am on Wednesday 5th June.

This will be followed by gatherings in the city: at Park Lok at 130 Grote Street (food) and the Duke of Brunswick Hotel at 207 Gilbert Street (drinks).  Indication of the numbers likely to attend each will be requested at the beginning of the Heysen Chapel memorial.

Winemakers who have enquired about wine donations for these fixtures can deliver in advance to Karen Foster at 144 South Terrace. Brewers and distillers are also most welcome.
