“Sod the wine, I want to suck on the writing. This man White is an instinctive writer, bloody rare to find one who actually pulls it off, as in still gets a meaning across with concision. Sharp arbitrage of speed and risk, closest thing I can think of to Cicero’s ‘motus continuum animi.’

Probably takes a drink or two to connect like that: he literally paints his senses on the page.”

GRENACHE: KING HELL MASTER CLASS

This crazy old trooper's grapeshot goes straight into the belly of the delicious Serafino McLaren Vale Grenache.

Sophie Otton, Drew Noon MW and the DRINKSTER invite you to our Grenache symposium on International Grenache Day, Friday 18th September.

This annual event is staged and sponsored by Serafino Maglieri's scary team of family and thirst managers. I hear they may dress in the uniform of the Vatican Guards. Sorry: private joke. Maybe it's a hat thing.

Twelve wines from twelve makers, twelve million ideas. And a hearty lunch to which you bring your favourite Grenache.

This will be a day which remembers you.

Now check this old bastard: osteoporosis?
